Abstract
The current emphasis on which mediation style a mediator uses masks the more fundamental question about the mediator’s role in the resolution of civil and commercial disputes. Should a mediator, depending on the situation, be concerned with only some or with all of the dimensions of a dispute? This contribution argues that a flexible (‘blended’) model of mediation is both desirable and possible. It also notes the implications of such an approach for mediation training.
