Abstract
Trust is a critical factor in adopting advanced manufacturing technologies (AMTs) in smart factories. This study explores the antecedents of trust among key technology stakeholders – operators, integration liaisons, and managers– through a qualitative, multiple-case study approach. Findings reveal that beyond system performance and user experience, social and value factors significantly shape trust perceptions. The study distinguishes stakeholder-specific antecedents and highlights the need for managerial ownership, effective communication, and alignment with organisational goals. By offering a framework for fostering trust in AMTs, this research contributes to behavioural operations management, supporting a human-centred technology transformation.
